Rs140m projects planned to boost tourism, hospitality sector
ISLAMABAD, Apr 14 (ABC):The Ministry of Inter-Provincial Coordination has planned three tourism initiatives worth Rs140 million under the Public Sector Development Programme (PSDP) 2026-27
According to documents available with Wealth Pakistan, a significant portion of the allocation, amounting to Rs70 million, has been proposed for capacity building of stakeholders in the tourism and hospitality sector.
The project specifically emphasises quality assurance in services to enhance professional standards, improve customer experience, and align the sector with international best practices.
In line with the growing global emphasis on environmentally responsible tourism, the ministry has also proposed Rs30 million for a feasibility study to establish an eco-friendly tourist resort in Islamabad.
The study is to explore sustainable development opportunities while ensuring environmental protection and efficient resource utilisation.
In addition, Rs40 million has been allocated to develop modern tourist facilitation centres at Islamabad International Airport. These centres are intended to provide essential services, information, and guidance to incoming tourists, thereby enhancing their overall travel experience at one of the country’s key entry points.
The initiatives reflect a focused approach towards the gradual development of the tourism sector through planning, capacity building, and targeted infrastructure improvements. Execution of these initiatives will help improve the tourism landscape, boost visitor confidence and lay the groundwork for long-term sectoral growth by June 2028.
